CSUB/SBDC Business Webinars Wednesday Series *

California State University, Bakersfield’s Small Business Development Center (SBDC) will host a series of business webinars on a variety of business topic in 2013. The Webinars will be every other Wednesday during the lunch hour from 12:05 to 1:00 pm, throughout 2013. The webinars are free to business owners and residents in Kern, Inyo and Mono counties, others must pay a $ 39 fee to attend. Webinars are a quick and convenient way to get pertinent information on business management topics over the internet and are accessed via a computer with an internet connection or a group site co-hosting the event with a large screen.

The webinars will also be offered in remote locations throughout the three county area where participants can gather and enjoy the webinar on a large screen. These locations will offer individuals with limited access to a high speed internet connection the opportunity to still view the webinars in a relatively seminar type setting. Please check our website www.csub.edu/sbdc for updated locations.

The initial webinar will be on the rising popularity of Crowdfunding on Wednesday, Feb. 6. Crowdfunding is a strategic approach to funding business projects through the support of a large number of people donating to specific projects via the Internet. Common crowdfunding projects include incentives and rewards to encourage supporters to back an idea, project or technology via a website such as Kickstarter.com, crowd lending sites and the new equity Crowdfunding where businesses will be able to raise capital by issuing equity ownership to investors.

Subsequent business webinars will be Feb. 20 on Starting or Growing Business that provides ideas and tools on legal, marketing and financially growing a small business. Our March 6th webinar is on the rules and regulations of starting a food business out of your home. New California law permits certain food businesses to operate out of a home rather than commercial kitchen. The March 20th webinar will feature the latest information on finding ways to raise money to grow or start a business. Some unique loan programs and other seldom discussed ideas will be presented too.

The CSUB SBDC is an off-campus center that offers no-cost, high quality business consulting as well as topical businesses webinars, classes and conferences. More info: www.csub.edu/sbdc
